In a shocking development that absolutely nobody could have predicted except literally everyone who has ever bought a digital console game, Sony is facing yet another class-action lawsuit after PlayStation owners allegedly paid inflated prices during the tariff chaos and then received roughly the same level of customer support normally reserved for abandoned shopping carts.

According to reports, players are demanding refunds after console prices mysteriously ballooned overnight due to tariffs, “market conditions,” “economic realities,” and whatever other phrases corporations use when they want to say “because we felt like it.”

The lawsuit claims Sony continued charging premium prices while consumers stared helplessly at checkout screens whispering things like:

“Well… I already bought the controller.”

Industry analysts say this marks the 47th consecutive year gamers have sworn they are “done with PlayStation forever” moments before preordering the next console in a special “Limited Regret Edition.”

Sony reportedly responded to the lawsuit with a carefully worded statement:

“We value our players.”

Experts confirmed this phrase traditionally translates to:

“Please continue paying $79.99 for remastered games.”

Meanwhile, affected customers may eventually receive compensation estimated somewhere between $2.14 and “a free avatar nobody asked for,” similar to previous PlayStation settlements involving digital storefront pricing.

Longtime PlayStation users remain unfazed, noting that suffering is already part of the ecosystem.

“Honestly, after paying for cloud saves, online multiplayer, deluxe editions, battle passes, and a console stand sold separately, this barely cracks the top ten,” said one PS5 owner while downloading a 96 GB patch for a single-player game.

Historians also noted this is hardly Sony’s first dance with lawsuits. Over the years, the company has allegedly:

  • Removed Linux support from the PlayStation 3 after advertising it as a feature,
  • Been sued over digital storefront monopolization,
  • Fought patent battles over controller vibration technology,
  • And somehow still convinced millions of people to say, “This generation will be different.”

At press time, sources confirmed gamers had already forgiven Sony after seeing a teaser for a new exclusive featuring:

  • sad dads,
  • overgrown cities,
  • emotionally devastated protagonists,
  • and a bow with upgrade trees.

Preorders begin tomorrow. Deluxe edition includes three days early access to the lawsuit.
